As per NHS England recommendations, needles for pre-filled and reusable insulin pens should only be prescribed that do not cost more than £5.00 per 100 needles. This section of the formulary will be regularly reviewed, with guidance from specialist diabetes teams to ensure that only best value products are recommended.

Patients who are not able to self-administer may be issued with a safety needle but best value options are only included on the formulary.
